driver door lock does not work

driver door lock does not work
could someone tell me the name of the part that frequently breaks inside the driver side door. when turning the key the lock turns fine in the door and the lock actuates fine when I push/pull the **** on the door sill but the 2 parts are not connected.
i if i lock the door i must open door from the passenger side unlock the door from the inside. I could take it apart and figure it out but I would prefer to have the part on hand so i can get it all done at once. thanks!

Just take off your door panel and reconnect the white plastic clip to the ball on the lock mechanism. Get it open and you'll see what I mean. It pops loose all the time...
