Default Smoke under boost

just like the topic says, WHen I get into boost the car puts out some smoke out of the exhaust. I am running 16psi and my a/f's are between 11.7-12.2:1. At idle and around town driving there is no smoke at all. Maybe a leaky turbo? I guess I should do a compression test?

Ay ideas?

What's the color of the smoke? Is it a constant stream, or only initially when you stomp on the gas?

It's normal for a puff of black smoke to come out the back. However, it won't keep smoking. Leaky turbo could be plausible.

Once it boosts up it doesnt happen until full boost. Once in full boost it starts to smoke. Then its come and go. SOme times there will be steady smoke the whole time while at full bost and some times it will not be very noticable at all.

I had black smoke when the mixture was too rich and before I re-installed a catalytic converter. My car burns clean now.

Not familiar with your set up, but have you ever replaced the fuel pressure regulator? Those are known to cause black smoke.

I don't see a wide band listed, so you may be running rich.
oops now I see it. You might check the O2 snesor as well as the plugs. Other things have been listed.

I have a similar set up on my car. I could not get the mixture right until I upgraded to the latest Lindsey chips and ran both the wideband and stock O2 sensor. The wideband by itself could not keep the mixture stable.

A wideband isn't supposed to keep a mixture stable...ever. That's not what it's for.

BTW: I also have 951max chips.

well here is anoher weird problem I have. When the stock O2 is plugge in, he car runs great around town, almost perfect 14.7:1 constant. Then I go WOT, it tapers to about 12-8-13.2:1 for like 4 or 5 seconds then gors strait down to 11.8 where its tuned to. SO I drive w/o a factory O2 and I still get great results whether putting around town or WOT.

have you changed anything since you ordered your 951max chips...if you ordered them and said you were running stock boost, stock fuel, stock exhaust then changed it all after installing the chip...it might just be the wrong tune for you components...

or you could need the turbo resealed like i'm doing right now...cause it's spilling oil all over the intercooler and I had smoke...but it was more of a dirty brown/white mixture...puffs...
