Working for a huge corporation is overrated! I was laid off after 10 years of service right before Christmas (great timing). These companies do not know the meaning of the word loyalty.

I say screw them all! Freelance-do it for yourself! Good luck!

Good luck man. I had to watch my father go from having great jobs and job leads to being a rent-a-cop security guard as the tech bubble began bursting.

Hopefully the Army won't start laying us off anytime soon.

Again, best of luck and I'm sure you'll find something!

Richard,
Have you thought about a finance position in a nonprofit organization ?
Or perhaps a corporate controller ?
Hey, how about a finance position at a university.

Again, good luck

+1000

My wife and I recently left the lending/real estate industries after all this sub prime fall out, foreclosures, etc.

We are now in the government sectors with are BOOMING.

I am also in the finance arena and government positions and government contracts companies are in DIRE need of finance positions.

I would look for any government companies or companies that do government contracts in your area and you should be ok and very secure for long term employment.

Exaclty!!!

Booze Allen is another very large and strong government contractor and exactly what I was referring to in my previous post. I have a lot of friends that work for Booz Allen.

I feel for you. When I was working at EDS (IT) alot of our jobs were going over seas. I wasn't waiting around to watch my job go over seas so I got out of there and got hired in at another place. Someone with your skillset should be snatched up fairly quick! I wish you the best! Times are definitely tough on the middle class right now.
