escort cup question
I've been asked "Any thoughts on whether I could get away with OEM sway bars (spaghetti) with the Escort Cup package? How do I avoid ending up with a higher rear ride height (without re-setting the rear torsion bars)?"
Many Thanks!

ahhahahahahah THIS HAPPENED TO MEEEEE and its high right now lol. ight their 2 things you can do one order 6in or 7 inch springs i have 8 inch which is why my car is jacked up so i used the encentric bolt and it lowered it a bit but i am still higher than stock. and/or you can use the encentric bolt but not that much help just order 7 or 6in spring. Just remember you can only move a 1/2 in down with the encentric bolt if i am not mistaken. If you want really want to get real close to stock get a 7 inch and play with the encentric. I am going to order new springs this month coming up and i think i might play with the t-bars

Thanks. Did you keep your torsion bars and then add the coilovers? I assume I can drop the eccentric bolt, but unless the coilovers are completely unloaded when sitting still, they will be adding spring rate and thereby height to the rear. So the question is whether that works (e.g. basically having the coilovers "passive" until there is some compression)

I spoke w/ Jason at Paragon, and he has convinced me (for two reasons) to skip the Bilsteins and go with the Koni Spec944 kit.
1. When using the coilovers as "helper" springs, they should be loaded, which means that you need to adjust the torsion bars to effectively lower the car, and then add the coilovers. If I'm doing that, then the installation advantage is gone.
2. The Bilsteins are super-stiff and not very street-friendly.
So, I'm now back to my original plan.

2. So not true. I drive my 951 on the street ALL the TIME. Did i tell you i made 5+ hr drive to Ohio tracked and drove it back with no problems whats so ever and it was super confy ride. BTW I live in New York lol.
3. Its all depends on the spring rate and valving

Keep it coming! (I secretly prefer the Escort Cup solution, although the thought of pulling the t-bars keeps me up at night.) Anyone else able to chime in on the need to pre-load the coilovers by re-setting the t-bars (lower) before installing teh c/os. I suppose it depends on what kind of pre-load you want on the coilovers (i.e. how much to take off the t-bars). You can put 50 lbs preload and have very little effect on ride height.

Some have completely unlaoded the t-bars and used the much more simple solution of using the coil overs to create the spring rates. I just took the damned things off. No more complicated t-bar setting bull****e. I run 550# rear springs.

What size wheels are you guys running with the Escorts? Mine feel pretty damn stiff but Im hoping the 17s help that a bit...and our roads blow as the setup feels great on smooth roads. (400 / 450, no t-bars)

For those of you with t-bar removed, did you have the bottom and tops of the rears converted to have 1/2 adapters? Did you do anything to otherwise re-enforce the mounthing points? I am going to post a more comprehensive question thread later, so if some of you could respond to that I'd appreciate it.

I run 16 X 8 phone dials on all four corners. Unless I can find larger wheels of the same or less weight, I'll stay that way. We know for that to happen I'm looking at LARGE cash outlay.
