how long is that peg, and what's preventing it from working itself loose? are the cylinders braced in between each other as well, or only along the side?

they are 10mm dia and the gap is 8mm so the machine shop plunge cuts in befor installing them with a 10mm slot drill so there is a 1mm deep R5 profile on the bore and block they are 23mm long and just below the deck i think 2mm below the deck would be better so the water would still go above them

that looks awsome what material is it ??? I always dreamed of a MID type set up made from aluminim and nicosealed.

Hey chris can you tell us more about filling aroung the bores from the bottom ??? looks interesting
I feel if you used a thermo conductive filler it would transfer heat from the rings in to the block through BDC .

By filling in the voids you can stiffen up the block – especially with the 3.0 blocks. You can really feel the difference during the machining process.
The heat transfer is not really an issue – the real heat is in the top of the cylinder, the bottom half of the bore only see the piston!
The key is the correct material. I will say that it costs me $300 a block for the stuff…

There are a bunch of different products that are made to partially fill the water jacket of other types of engines (V8s mostly). But that is not the same purpose as this stuff. Remember that this is exposed to the crank case and if it fails or ‘chunks’ drop off they will fall down into the sump.

Oh for sure I got that, I just meant that I've heard of people filling the blocks with concrete to stabilise the cylinders and thought that might get a bit heavy. I'm sure that epoxy stuff is light.

it's custom flared sleeves done by a local shop familiar with 951's. i don't have much info on it yet other than several local track-dedicated 951's have been running this for several years without problems.
