You can put on a protective film. http://www.lamin-x.com/ I put them on my headlights and foglights. Yellow to be exact. Actually the ones on my car was used for test fitting

searched about the headlamps conversion on "future", but I only found the "testaR" type lights.
Who makes the best 924 GTS lights conversion kit ? Anyone in Europe ?
Sorry for hijacking the thread...

As to the original poster, try shooting Arash's (FRPorscheman) brother Ashkan (959lover) a pm. He does a bunch of stuff with earlier golfs, and since his brother/Arash has had so many 944s he'd probably know if they are similar mounting flanges.

I believe the best kit will be the one that I'm getting and you should contact Mark/Future in regards to this.
This is the old website address so that you can see them. Don't bother contacting the site though as they won't come back to you. Much easier to go through Future.

I happen to have two MKII VWs running Euro H4s.

I could only get one of the five pics to work. the 944 H4 is on the right.

The tabs on the VW light look like they could be modified to work.
The glass lens portion on the VW lamp stands further out also.
Unless actually fitted, this is still inconclusive. At least you have an idea. Good luck!

I have thought about this as well for our 944, but I do not believe the mk2 golf lights can be plainly 'installed' and work perfectly. As 951Saga's picture can show, the profile of the 944 light is MUCH smaller than that of the golf, and with flip up lights that increase of the light housing might prevent the light from fitting, let alone working with the flip mechanism.

I understand your woes with the look of the OE light housings, but if it were me, I would hunt down a set and try for myself. I suppose when we start stripping the ol' 944 for paint (again) I can try fitting some of my spare gti lights in there, and let you know what happens but I don't see that happening for a while.

Lastly, you can always try Harley lights as they are also 7" and might be of similar profile to the OE Porsche ones.

Thanks guys. It helped a bit.
In this case I will try looking for clear headlights set made for 944 (don't want to fight with modifing the golf light), or just stay with the original ones and only mount xenon lights.

I was speaking today with a guy that did it to his 944. You can buy golf clear set and mount on them original 944 mounts, so this should be ok.
