Default Strut Assembly Install Tips?

I am re-installing the stock strut assembly today. I'm not removing/compressing the springs, just taking the whole pre-assembled unit and re-installing it in the chassis.

Are you supposed to put grease on the ball joint?

How do I get the ball joint to line up? Seems like I need to jack the suspension somehow, somewhere, to get the ball to fit in the recess.

Without a rebuilt ball joint that has a zirc, I think greasing the joint is a nogo.

Reinstall should be a breeze, loose mount the top, swing the arm up and align the ball joint pin, and bolt her together. All the stock ball joint pins I've seen have some rust occurring, maybe a thin film of antiseize will facillitate removal in the future

Yeah thanks, I got it. I have new control arms and had to work the pins a bit to free them up. Smooth as silk now. Thanks.

Interesting to see that new control arms from Porsche have the ball joints epoxied in place just like the rebuilds. Wonder if that's why there are cheaper than the old days...

Thanks for the spell check -- was typing in the garage, was up late last night, and my dog ate it.

Ski - hoping to get it on the road today or tomorrow and will post more pics and initial reviews.
