Default OK to drive untuned if I don't go in boost?

I'm not confident in the ARC-2 and injector duty / narrowband AF gauge I have (it lights up randomly and when it does light up, the readings make no sense) , but I need to be able to drive my car until I can get a set of proper chips and wideband o2 that fit my budget.

With the amount of money I have tied up in my 951 , I have the willpower to stay out of the boost until I have it sorted out.. anyone see a problem with this?

thanks
mike

edit: I've been searching posts from 2001-2003 when the ARC2, ARM1, and Dannos chips were all the rage. Its amazing how far we've come since then, with Vitesse and Maxtune etc. I just feel like my 951 is stuck in 2001!

To be honest, I wouldn't drive it at all until you can get it tuned. The more miles you put on it untuned, you don't know what you're getting yourself into. Just asking for trouble.

Hey Mike - you are taking a gamble. Even out of boost if your tune is way out you may do damage.

Undo your mods that changed the tune or get the tuning done before driving

At least you're not stuck in 1988!

I agree with you guys.. doesn't seem to be worth the gamble.

Only reason I'm asking is because I haven't changed any of the electronics / maf/turbo/exhaust/chips from when I bought the car , just bought a replacement block, rebuilt it and replaced every hose/seal/bearing/fuel pump and regulator etc..

The PO said the car ran fine for about 3 years after he rebuilt the engine and added mods. Then it blew out the side of #1 cylinder and bent the rod (blown HG leaking coolant?). so I was hoping to get it driveable until I could get in touch w/ Russell @ maxhpkit..

I've been thinking about getting this gauge and the wb02 controller for it. I like the ability to add more sensors to the same gauge.. makes for a cleaner interior IMO

1. please do not run car.
2. It blew for a reason
3. Get the Zeitronix WideBand. Many people here used it and had great success. and we can always give you a hand. plus its not that expensive
