Well, it turns out the HV pump does come with a new check valve.

And you are 100% sure that there are no external leaks?
Like through the gasket on the screwed-together damper, for instance.

Nothing at the damper. I've looked there several times.

Do you smell any gas at all after you park the car? With the hood open or if you just drove into a garage?

Well, the car has been parked awhile, no start. I havent noticed anything. When I've tried startint it, I sniffed around the area where the lines go into the wheel well and didnt smell anything there. I'll have to nose around the rear of the car next.
