Realistic Weight Loss Goal
After much searching , I am still looking for a few more ideas on how to get my 951 (95% track) down to the 2600-2700 range...
I also need some input on what realistic weight savings are for the below items:
My car currently weighs 2908 without gas and I have done:
-lightweight odyssey battery pc680 25# savings
-removed cat 30# savings???
-replaced seats with sparco adv/rev 50# savings???
-removed rear carpet 18# savings
-removed airbag wheel 4# savings???
-added bolt-in 1/2 cage and 5-pts +50#???
-added 18" carrera III wheels with mpsc +18# unsprung weight
Planned - these weights are merely educated guesses (please chime in here):
-rear hatch motor 3#??
-cruise control assembly 4#??
-replace sunroof with f/g 20#??
-remove seat belts 5#??
-remove fog lights 5#??
-remove rear seat and all carpet 20#??
-remove heat 20#??
-remove center console 15#??
-replace hood with f/g 30#??
-replace rear bumper with f/g 25#
-add kiss oil cooler +20#??
-replace electric mirrors with manual 5#??
-cut out spare wheel area 15#
-remove headlights?? no ballpark idea on this one??
-remove door panels 20#??
any low-hanging fruit I am missing here?
I figure about 300rwhp (goal) and 2650# would be ideal

As far as the reading I have done, 2800 lbs is about the norm after major weight reductions have been performed. Any more than that you are looking at remove ALOT of stuff. As you already know, all the little things start to add up after a while, I am not sure what class you are trying to stay in or any restrictions on what you can do to the car, but anything lower than 2800 requires some creative thinking and removing little things here and there.
Have you made the switch to manual steering yet? Major things to be found there that reduce weight.

My '88 951 is down to 2510# without fuel or driver, with full cage. It required removing practically everything not necessary to make the car run. I still have the factory body panels and glass, no lexan or fiberglass (except rear bumper). But those pounds (body panels and glass) cost big $ to shed, compared to simply removing stuff.
There's a bunch of threads in the 944/951 forums regarding weight of specific items.

mine is now 2667lbs with 65liter fuel after removing interior stuff
I still have rear hatch, sunroof, console and all that stuff in the car
I will now replace hood, fenders and misc stuff with fiberglass/carbon, windows for lexan etc, and put a cage, fyre system, oil accumulator etc in, hopeing to see 2645 with full tank.

With a cage, you can remove the bars inside the doors.
cruise control.
wieght loss is more than you stated with removing rear bumper and using fiberglass. The rear spare tire well weighed 18lbs when I pulled it out.
Flywheel can save some lbs.
Racings seats saves big weight.
25-30lbs off hood with fiberglass.
a million more things. - AC / PS. etc.

theres alot of weight to be saved by deleting the a/c, the factory exhaust is also pretty heavy. Then theres all the climate control stuff under the dash and the blower motors. You can also save a few lbs by getting a new cooling fan, then you can gut all the rubber insulation from the roof. Also get a lighter flywheel/ pressure plate, those are definately pretty heavy

The a/c compressor bracket and compressor are about 22lbs together. Im pretty sure if you add in the condenser, receiver and the evaporator (and of course the lines) ive heard between 35 and 40 lbs..i think it depends on how far you really want to go.
Weight of the torsion bars depends on diameter. The stock 23.5mm bars are around 5.5lbs each (x2). The 25.5mm bars in the Turbo S are around 6.25lbs. Forgot where i read it, but a 31mm hollow torsion bar is around the same weight (within a few tenths) of a 23.5mm bar.

Interior is completely stripped, all climate control, headlights, windshield wipers, etc. is all gone. Manual steering, no muffler or cat, race seats (2), lightweight Forgeline wheels.
IMO, the trick is all the 5-10# items. They add up. There is a surprising amount of stuff on the car that is completely unnecessary for 100% track use.

From factory exhaust to LR 3" straight through saved 22#.
Climate control (all of it) saved 65#+, I didn't write down the exact figure but when I removed the climate control and 3/4 of the dash it was close to 100# total.
