I monitor EVERYTHING.
Can you give some insight on knock counts and EGTs then?

OK, time for a Friday AM rant…..
Why do (some) of you guys believe in this ‘safety valve’ crap? Using your head gasket as failure point for your faulty tuning is just plain dumb. If you can’t tune it don’t turn the boost up….period. If you get in to heavy detonation you will do other damage along with your failed head gasket.
My other issue is that relying on the failure point of a head gasket as your safety valve is financially stupid as well – how much time effort and $ does it take to change your head gasket? Its not 45min job and if you have to pay somebody else it is a real dumb financial plan.
I could ramble on a whole bunch more….
If you have any head gasket fail you are doing something wrong….fix what you are doing wrong.
