Cam Seal Removal
Looking to remove the round seal pushed on to the cam housing....right behind the cam sprocket. Shown as #22 here...
Any tricks?? I just don't want to gouge anything. TIA

When you remove the back cover from cam tower, you can push the busing out, then use numerous non scaring things from the back side to poke the seal out, if your seperating it. If not, just go around it slowly and work it out. One of my favorites is a pig tail, pump packing puller. You basically screw it into the side of the seals and pull. You can get them at hardware stores or any farm co-op.

Thanks guys....I got it.
I couldn't get the bushing pressed out for the life of me. I just pushed the bushing back as far as possible, stuck a screw driver into the seal from the front (right beside the bushing) and pryed up. Took a few tries but eventually it just popped out.

When you say bushing do you mean item #20, aka spacer sleeve?
It’s a good idea to replace that sleeve if you can see or feel any grooves from the old seal mating surface.

All the front seals (generally) are straight forward to remove, the cam seal is a tad tricker because if you still have the cam housing on the car, you need to be careful not to turn the cam too much while attempting to remove the large 32mm bolt (item #18) and that internal 12-point bolt.
I found a screw river with a 90 degree bend (like the one you use to get the lower distributer housing screw off) worked like a charm on all the front engine seals.
