If 350 ounces counts as a 'few', then yes your right.

The fiberglass euro rear weighs about 10lbs and maybe 14-15lbs total with the hard mounts. The stock aluminum bumper and shocks is about 30lbs. All of this was weighed using my super accurate bathroom scale method .

Not sure of the weight on the diffuser, i dont think more than 10lbs though. The weight savings from the bumper is quiet a bit, its also from the very ends of the car so is very effective at improving the other aspects of weight loss advantages...basically the polar moment of inertia..but i wont get into the physics of it .

Thanks Jon,
I do understad PMI and other principles of racing. You're right that that is a very good place to loose weight. At least as much value as the roof area.

Original euro bumber is not glassfibre, it's some kind of plastic mixture.

Here you can see the weight both in US and Euro standards

Accurate enough ?

Plus you need to add the weight of the bumper pads on the US bumper if you have them on the car.

The Euro bumper just has a plastic strip that weighs practically nothing compared to the rubber pads.

Olli,
Thats's great!

I believe from your desrcription it must be the same "composite" material they used on the sunroof. A lot of weight savins to be had.

Now, where to find a good used one.

Check eBay.UK . They are for sale all the time and go for relatively cheap. Usually not more than $50 US dollars. Shipping is about $150 - 200 US dollars. So you can get one state side shipped for around $250 total. Not bad considering what some vendors sell them for ($600+, granted they are new). The cheapest carrier i have found is called ParcelFlight.

Thanks Jon. I have been looking there but haven't gotten lucky yet. Are the 944 and the 951 bumpers different over there?
