Default Removing slave/mastercylinder...

Is there a write up anywhere on how to change out the slave cylinder? My pedal is stuck in the open position because i pulled it up after it was stuck to the floor and now it's as hard as a rock and I can't put it down. So car is underdriveable.

Slave Cylinder Replacement and Bleeding

Most replace the master and slave at the same time since the failure of one seems to be quickly followed by the failure of the other.

Where is the brake/cluth fluid resevoir?? any specific fluid i should use?

It's right in front of the brake booster, has small plastic cap with wires coming off it, white/somewhat clear plastic reservoir. Owner's manual specifies fluid (unless you are tracking the car). 'Ate' brand is popular.

Haha, took out the SLave cylinder and check this out... . are'nt those supposed to be together? Took it out and now my clutch pedal travels fine, Looks like a new one is certainly in order

Motive or similar power bleeder really helps when bleeding the slave also, good luck!

Well, is'nt a bleeder just to suck the air out of the system when reinstalling the new one? If so, then any kind of pump would work, right? I have a turkey baster looking thing that would seemingly get the job done.

But bleeding the slave cylinder is a real PITA, i tried it and i still had air. Sent the car to a shop, where they had this big professional air powered vacuum thing, took a few minutes and it was done.

Power bleeders like this one, will pressurize the system to force air out. This one connects to your brake fluid reservoir and can be used to bleed the clutch and/or brakes.

The slave seems to be more difficult to bleed than others due to the routing of the lines. If you look closely, you can see how air is easily trapped between the slave and reservoir. Some have had success forcing fluid into the slave and pushing air back into the res.

Well in theory, could'nt a siphon system work as well. Put the end on the bleeder cap and just pump until the fluid comes out. (pfft, thats what she said)

In theory yes, since in both cases you are using pressure to do the work.

So check this out. The shift fork in the bell housing broke. Thats what was not lettign the pedal work. Now im screwed
