Default sway bar vs strut bar

This should be an entertaining question to many of you familiar with suspension... actually not even sure if the bars are considered part of the suspension but you get my point. The question is do strut bars (over the engine) have the same purpose as a front sway bar (under the car)??? Also lets say I would like to eliminate some of the lean in corners (street car), what is a common, correct way of doing this??? For example do I just get a thicker sway bar.. and if I upgrade the front one is it also recommended to upgrade the rear bar?? Last question, what is the deal/benefit with the 968 castor blocks when upgrading suspension??? Thanks

No totally different purposes. Sway bars are what prevent the roll, strut bars keep the tops of the struts the same distance apart basically. They work to prevent chassis flex which leads to camber changes and such.

They're a stronger design and have a little less rubber so they do not deflect as much under load.
Because the castor blocks have a rubber isolator in them, I consider them a wear part. So if you're looking to upgrade the suspension and your car still has the original ones/ style, you should just go ahead and replace them with the 968 style.

I'd recommend the 968 castor mount upgrade to anyone. Unless your stock mounts have been replaced recently they are probably way past their best, and even at their best they are not as good as the 968 bushes. It is a cheap mod that a specialist (or any mechanic for that matter) can do in about 30mins.

Another mod i'd recommend is the KLA Industries sway bar drop link stiffening bracket. I am very suspicious of the flat ARB drop links and reckon they buckle under cornering and reduce the effectiveness of your sway bar. This bracket supports the drop links to prevent this. Again it's a very cheap mod to buy and install and will get the best out of your stock sway bar.

just make sure you mark your castor blocks before you remove them. Yeah that drop link is awsome.
