Default battery kill

Im having a mounting bracket made to hold a battery kill where the cruise used to be but i want to know whats a good switch to buy that will be reliable? I dont need a remote one since its only there for storing the car or working on it. Also, does the alternator get connected to the load side or does it have to go to the battery?
