Default SHould balance shaft move?

I'm repalcing my balance belt and discovered the upper balance shaft moves in and out about 1/4". Is this right? The lower shaft doesn't move at all. Can anyone give me a clue?

Mine move in and out as well. I'm not sure if it's normal or not, either.

I know mine moved last time I did the belts. I am pretty sure this is normal, every 944 I have worked on in that area has done the same thing.
