Default Refinishing Fuchs wheels

When I bought my car, the Fuchs had some road rash on them and the finish is terrible. I'd like to clean up the rash and then strip all the finish and refinish them myself.

From what I understand, I can just use aircraft stripper to strip everything, and then some people have used paint like Rustoleum. But what about a clear coat?

I'd prefer to do this cheaply using only some good elbow grease. FWIW, the rash isn't super deep, just a small fraction of a millimeter, but I don't want to take something to it and grind away too much metal.

Anyone have any good links or suggestions?

Ouch you're killing me with this one. Rustoleum? Aircraft Stripper?

Jeremy's Garage + Jeremy's Tools + Some Labor + A Few On-The-Shelf Supplies + Case of Beer = pretty wheels that will last another 20.

I used VHT Satin Brake paint on the centers as it is resistant to brake dust. The finish was really smooth and even.

Yeah, but careful, that greaseless compound used to remove the anodized layer, leaves a lot of crap in the air, make sure you were a dust mask.

Make sure you pick the right satin black. Gloss black will not yeild professional results. Take your time taping the spokes.

Take Jeremy up on his offer. I wish I was closer, he would have a fridge with a keg of his favorite beer in it 24/7.

Yeah but sometimes when I leave his place my butt hurts and I'm missing about 30 minutes from my memory.

I think they would look best with the centers painted body color and the lips polished

That's what I'd like to do. But I'm hoping to change the body color to a deep deep midnight color. Black with just the smallest hint of blue.
