Default Question about valve spring tension ??

My head is in the machine shop and I was told at height @ 1.6 the valve spring tension should be 128-130lbs , no less than 120lbs . Mine are @ 118-120 lbs, my machanist has informed me .. What should I do replace , shim, upgrade, ??? Car is slightly modified, but nothing major. Also my use is recreational weekened driving. Thanks for response ..... Davepnola

shimming should be used to correct height only, not to correct spring rate. Although some of those chevy driving rednecks may tell you different. Good thing I dont see any on these boards!

Well maybe a webcam grind and set rds springs with 150lbs seat pressure should do it ?
What is the procedure in polishing the exhaust port edges to reduce the turbulance ???

some good springs would be of benefit although those aren't too far out of spec, I assume the car doesn't stay near the redline for any extended period of time they are ok. Not sure on the exhaust ports I used a non turbo head and ported it

don't hurt the ceramic in the head.

I would get new springs for anything over stock boost, JMHO. The last thing you want to do is float a valve if you're out having fun with the car and you'll know you can have room for upgraded performance in the future - the head is off and at the shop.
