Default I just ordered the .027 Cometic head gasket..

Will reducing the thickness make that much of a difference. Keep in mind the head will get shaved and trued no more than .005 . Thanks

You will probably need the adjustable cam gear to keep the timing correct. Do the math to calculate the new compression ratio.

Like 022. thickness reduction at the most ? .5 increase in compression ? How big is that ? Thanks

you do not want to get anything smaller than stock thinkness.

If you have stock valve train the valve to piston clearance with .005 head shave and a .027 headgasket is going to be very small. One little incident of over revving or botched shift and you may be getting the tops of your pistons indented.

I would stick with the factory .043" IIRC thickness.
