Cool Pictures of widebody 944 Turbo in action

I thought I would show some recent pictures of my 944 Turbo in action on the famous Spa/Francorchamps track.
The widebody rebuild, which took all of the winter and most of the summer is now nearing completion.
The front bumper shell is still not to my liking, needs rework, but as a whole I am quite satisfied.
Next winter I am going to think about some new striping.

The intention of the widebody rebuild was not to make the car look cooler, but to make it go faster. I will post some preliminary results shortly.

That is an intercooler. Radiator is behind it.

Hi Anders. Laptimes are quite interesting, did not try in earnest yet, but with a passenger and old tires I was at 2:47. I estimate under race conditions I could do 2:43ish and that is with only 350 crank HP. The older 380 HP 996 GT3 and Cups I can keep up with or beat, the newer 420 HP are just to quick. they run like 2:38s

I run 285 or 305 Pirelli or 280 Dunlop slicks, on 10,5x18 rims.

Drop me a message when you go there next time, perhaps we could meet

yes, it would be good fun to have a 951 race around,

I'm trying to locate my datalogs to find times, but then I thought.. I haven't driven it this year with the new layout yet so not really compatible.

well, just called some friends who drove a 997 GT3 on cup tires around there.. they are over 2:50. they were very impressed with your times!

do you race in any class dictating you cannot run over 350hp crank? my class we measure wheels and can't have less than 3kg per HP.

are you running early or late arms? I'm speccing my wheels and wondering what offsett to run and what width, plan was 295 front and 315 rear, class dictates only michelin pilot sport cup tires are allowed as michelin is the sponsor, and slicks ar enot allowed as we need license plates. for Spa-francochaps and nürburgring on closed days I will however buy a set.

aprox what speeds are you hitting accelerator again when going up o-rouge?

According to my log the new and old layout make no difference at all. Even just looking at the Busstop section the times are similar, and the La Source hairpin is a bit longer, but also wider

Tell them I said thx! MSPC tires do make a difference though, I would estimate like 5 sec on Spa/Francorchamps

No, not really, the class I am aiming for has a rule between 3.7 en 4.5 Kg/RWHP including driver, so I could have like 35HP more. I am building a new engine, just need to find another 10k€ somewhere to finish it. 350 crank HP is just a lot cheaper..

My front arms are custom build works of art, adjustable 2,0 to 4,5 cm wider as late arms. You can not just reduce ET and/or mount wider wheels and/or use spacers, the geometry change will cause tire carcasses to break.

Do not know, not my best corner BTW. Not brave enough. I do know that I exit Pouhon over 200 real km/h and I do Blanchimont 2 at a minimum speed of 196, which is scary fast. Top speed at the end of the straight after Eau Rouge is 238 km/h

Yes it is. Lower is faster! Chassis pickup points raised 1 inch, custom A-arms to correct bump steer. Angle of the drive shafts is now the limiting factor, and raising the gear box is a hassle..

Video?
Sorry, no video yet. Friends say though it (or should I say she?) moves like a 997. Sexy...
