Default Max boost on Autothority stg 2 chips?

We are running an Autothority stage 2 chip with a MBC in our '86 951. The Autothority papers say that it was set up for a max boost of 14lbs. Has anyone pushed past this?

Thanks,
Drew

I'm no expert, but I've been researching chips for a few weeks now. From what I've read, the Autothority chips are known to go lean in the upper rpm range. That alone would tell me to stay at the max boost level that Autothority states to run. Higher boost levels would mean even less fuel, so leaning it out even more.

14.5-15 is the accepted max. You might consider doing a search here and dredging up ALOT more interesting information about these chips. There is alot to be learned, however the general consensus is that they aren't exactly the best on the market. Having used them for over a year, I can confirm that they do seem to lean out at the top, but also run rich mid.

according to autothority you should not be touching the 2 bar mark on the gauge. It should be at the line right before the two, which is .95 bar. If you are reaching the two, there are two drill bits included with the stage II kit. You are supposed to drill the supplied banjo bolt to the next bigger hole size to reduce the boost to down to .95 bar.

Would fiddling with a rising rate or non-rr FPR help out these chips performance?

Imho, these chips are not worth "fiddling" with. If you are short on cash, a set of Russel's chips won't set you back much and the difference from these chips is night and day. My car had autothority chips/banjo when I bought it. I installed a set of Maxx chips and it is much improved all around. Idles better, runs great, pulls hard and afr is dead on (checked w/ wb02).

I'm a new owner of an '89 951 and I've got similar chip questions. Is there consensus as to what the best chip is on the market? My objectives would be maximum hp without going damage to the engine. I hear 300hp is attainable.

Burma Shave, thanks, I agree, I am just trying to understand if some sort of FPR would help someone running that setup at all.

If I were shopping for chips I would look no further than Vitesse. People have good things to say about maxx also.

You'll be running stupid rich in the midrange if you run a FMU. (Old school mustang term) and maybe fix a little up top. Seriously. Re-consider doing anything like this.
