Default Dad gum - New silver rose is dead - pics :(

He was smoking oil pretty bad. We did some compression and leakdown tests on Sunday and they were not very pretty on cylinder one. I pulled off the top end this evening and found this. I am wondering if I could have caused it getting on the boost some on the way back from Florida without the car being tuned. Pretty depressed right now....

I must say that between the jacked up roof around the sunroof opending, other paint issues, frame damage in the front, cut up headliner and now a boat anchor for a motor.....the future doesn't look real good for the car.

Man that sucks. I know how you feel exactly only my damage is spread, between two different motors. I have the bore damage like yours in one and valve kiss damage like yours in the other. Between the two I might have a good motor for rebuild. Those pistons are sure clean though, were you running real lean or loosing coolant on the drive?

Sorry, pal. I knew what the outcome was going to be before we even hooked up the compression and leakdown testers. . . been through it before-- sucks. . .

Oh dam - look at that #2.
I wonder if a bent valve was the cause of the thing being slower than it should have been as well?

Well. You have some goodies We can work on getting that one car that is hiding up there in the NE.

I told you that motor was on it's way out. You may have helped it some but you were not the total cause of it's demise. Look at the valve imprint on cylinder #2! Poor car...

sorry to hear about the car. i guess that's why mods don't increase the value of cars that much.

Josh, are you the same JB that sold me the 12K mile 951S motor earlier this year? If so, I'm, just getting ready to swap that into my 951S in the next few weeks - finally have some time to do it! Sorry to hear about your engine issues.

Whats with the residue in the cooling system?

Cylinder looks done for, if the car has front frame damage it doesn't have much hope unless you really like doing things yourself.

If you are going to think about repairing the car, contact Luis (Lartiga) he had some good engines laying around.

You can sell that motor to someone who is going for a 2.7+ alusil/MID.

But sorry, and yes, piston 2 came in contact with the valves at some point.....

Hey Randy - Glad to hear that motor is going out to pasture again I was worried you were just going to keep it locked up in that underground storage

I had coolant on the way up from Florida and thought if anything that the car was running rich rather than lean. Good question about that residue in the system - looks oily in the pictures.

The valve damage was a surprise - I think that this head is good - maybe that was prior damage and possibly what promted the head to be o-ringed?

Guess there is no point in crying over spilled milk. I'll squirrel away some of the mods and keep looking for another turbo.

Josh, I'm sooo sorry to hear about the engine problems. How long have you had the 951S? Its a hell of a car. I should have my car back soon from resealing the engine and doing the rod bearings (preventative job).
