JE,
I really don't believe that your turbo is not modified in some way! I may be completely ignorant, but I have driven more than a few of these cars and I have never seen one do what you are describing. I guess that's why Im willing to put my money where my mouth is (even though, as you pointed out my offer really isnt that generous), but like you said, you already have a dyno slip. The thing that gets me is that I can't wrap my head around the fact that every stock turboed 951 I have ever driven was basically broken, and your car is some divergence in space and time, without being altered in some way. How long have you had your car, and how many people messed with it before you bought it??

the difference is the wastegate.

how many of these 951's that you've seen/driven/etc. had a tial wastegate running dual port setup ?

Let's see what everyone else thinks.

LINK TO POLL

I myself have never seen a k26/6 hold 15psi at the redline. If that was possible why would so many people and even Porsche swap them for a k26/8?

My car will not hold 15psi at the redline it drops off too, stock turbo, rebuilt engine, Tial wastegate, mbc, no boost leaks, no exhaust leaks.

I dont think my car is special in anyway. THis is my first 944 (19y/o). im 3rd owner, last owner bought from his friend when it was 100% stock (never rebuilt, even turbo). Next owner put on clutch, suspension mods, K&N drop-in, shimme dwastegate, chips, and B&B. I did MAF, Mafterburner, and Tial. ALong with new vac lines...

Last owner used my car as a track car too. And I know for a fact that it has not been rebuilt. owner stated it never had been and it has the dirt/grease/grime to prove it haha.

BTW has anyone "overboosted" their car accidentaly?

WHen installing my tial and black **** I took my first run and in 4th it shot up to 28psi in midrange and then droped slowely and evenly to 16-16.5psi by redline. I think these turbo's are capable of doing alot more then we think.

Je 951, as far as the capabilities of the K26, I never would have questioned high boost in the mid range.. I had my turbo making 20psi in the redline when I was first trying to adjust the boost controler, and that wasn't all it had (this was only for a slpit second mind you, around 4,000RPM). I admit that I am apparently wrong about the K26-6 not being able to supply 15psi at the redline, but it does seem like 90% of people are experiencing some kind of trailing boost. Maybe from 21 down to 17 at redline, or from peaking 15 down to 12.5 at redline. Your dyno chart looks pretty flat, so I would guess you dont experience this. As for me, I am running unknown chips (reflashed in the 90's according to PO), with a lindsey 3" exhaust / tial waste gate. Because I have no idea what the chips are and they use the stock FPR, I have the boost set at 11.5 or 12 psi, and I see it fall to 10psi at the redline. Admittedly I am running my tial as a SINGLE PORT gate, but I have a friend who holds 18 psi no problem with a 'single port' Tial. He is however running a T4 hybrid, the last generation of Danno's turbo before he dissappeard. I always figured if he could run 18, the gate would be fine for 12 on my car, if the turbo was capable. It seems as though that logic may be flawed due to increased back pressure through a stock #6 hot housing.

you need to run dual port to hold boost better.

to hold boost ideally, you'd want dual port with electronic automatic variable boost control.

single port will always bleed pressure towards redline, regardless of the turbo.

I can guarantee you that a stock wastegate will NOT allow you to touch 15psi at redline. But like others and I are saying, with a Tial (like tyro has) he should and will be able to hit 15psi at redline as long as he has no boost leaks.

I have already posted my dyno w/boost and that was done with LR MAF, MAfterburner, Tial 38, BLack ****, and B&B exhaust. There are many people on here pushing 15+psi on 26/6's.

Before adding my Tial I was hitting mid 12psi on stock wastegate with a shim at redline. Tial allowed me to hold up to 16.5psi at redline (turbo MAXXED), but I kept it at 15psi max.
um i am sorry to bring this back up again but JE_951 but with a stock wastgate and k26/6 turbo i am able to hold 16psi of boost to redline. also my gate is not shimmed. so i think it depends on how old every thing is and the condition of every thing. and also how you are controlling boost. i am using a electronic boost controller opposed to everyone elses MBC or LBC. i also am not using the LBE. though my other 87 doesnt hold boost to redline. it will drop from 18psi to about 11-13psi. same setup i am running now.
