Psychodelic door locks?
In the process of tracking down an electrical problem that makes the car shut down when returning to idle, I've replaced a speed-reference sensor, only to find that the central-locking mechanism has suddenly gone beserk.
Unlocking the door with the car key, the door locks pop up and down erratically, and when I get in the car they lock down without hitting the central locking button.
Alarm control module or central locking mechanism brain? (the doodad on the steering column).
What's your guess? I've ruled out door-handle microswitches because both locks toggle up and down simultaneously in synch.
The latter will cost 3X what the former would cost to replace.
Please help. Summer is here and I'm getting desperate to sort the car out and get on the road. Many thanks!

Burning Brakes
I'm having a similar problem with my locks. The driver's side turns fine but will only lock/unlock the driver's door. The passenger side is very tight but will lock/unlock both doors. The central locking button on the console stays red all the time and will not operate the locks up or down. They move just slightly with the usual "clunk" sound, but noth'n. Any thoughts???

After some extensive searching in both the 944 Turbo and the General 924/944 forums, I think the problem may be related to the microswitches, actually.
However, if figure oiling the locks with WD-40 can't hurt, so I'll give that a try.
400hp944, what year is your car?
From the symptoms you describe, I think you may have a broken plastic linkage (Porsche part number 944.537.511.00) between the door handle and the power lock actuator (1 per door). They're very inexpensive to buy from your local dealer and fairly easy to replace, provided you remove the inner door panel first.
