Default Brake Pads... grr

Yeah so i have these brake pads in my car right now. They were a metalic mix i do not even remember the name of the brand. They take for ever to warm up, they make SO MUCH NOISE, do not perform good at all (feels like my car doesn't even want to stop), i hate the fact that they squeel all the time (always have since i put them in).

What would be a nice and CHEAP (best bang for the buck) brake pad for the front brakes? I just do not want to drive, or sell the car with the brakes the way they are.

Please and thank you!

Go with the (PBR) Axxis Metal Masters. Great street/mountain run pad. They are low dusting, warm up fast, and haven't faded on me yet...no track use to evaluate them though. It's hard to beat the Paragon pricing either.

I really like my porterfield r4-s pads. I think I paid $80 for them and are great hard street use pads. Not loud and hold well even in cold conditions. Best bang for buck IMO.

for street I use wagner thermo-quite. Feel very good, are absolutely silent always. I doubt they would take overheating abuse of extended track use, but are an excellent all around

Default regarding pads

take pads off and feather off the edges on the ends of pads so they are tapered........and if you really want improvements cut a line down the center to release the heat....and lightly sad the base to get sheen off and make sure you easy on the pads for break in period ..Hope it helps

I have metal master xgb's for the festiva but never got to use them. 32$ for the set on paragon though. My brother loved his metal masters on his svt contour so i will order a set of them right now! thanks

I can give the metal masters a +1. Lot's seat time in my Bimmer with them; have 2 track days in the 951 on them. Predictable, take the heat well. As others have said, a good all around pad. They can be had for under $40 an axel too; hard to beat.

Actually, the stock stuff isn't all that bad.
Hawk makes some good stuff, too.
