Default Headgasket(widefire) + steam vent complete... fuel leak!?

So i finally got all my precious peices of humpty dumpty back together again...

and now she gushes fuel from the supply line at the fuel rail. The metal fitting is fine, but where the rubber hose connects to the metal fitting... it leaks like a siv.

Time to order fuel lines... yippe... i wanted to drive her tonight... ugh.

Question to all...

The rubber supply line that runs over the exhaust area, does it simply unscrew from the hard line or is it all crap?

I'm thinking about getting the lindsey racing steel braided stuff, (my father says that its easy stuff to make...too bad he doesnt have the tools for it haha) I am just not sure how it'd go together. Anyone have some good advice?

No, i refuse to drive it how it is. I just thought i'd answer it before it got out there, i do NOT want to drive a fireball.

You have to cut the hard pipes, I would not just crimp another piece of rubber in, but that is just me. Buy the lindsy kit.

Yep go with the Lindsey Fuel lines. I added the fire sleeving on mine (pity to cover up all that pretty braiding) to protect the lines even further.

braided lines are nice but i would rather cover them up with sleeving since the braided lines will wear into whatever they touch

Hey guys, Lindsey Racing is out of the braided fuel lines and wont have them for 2 weeks. I dont know if I can wait that long...

Does anyone have any alternative to a fuel line replacement? Maybe someone else sells braided fuel lines?!?

You might check with Vic at Pauer Tuning. He builds a very nice set.

Rennbay also sells replacement high temp replacement lines, but they're not braided.

I have a lindsey kit somewhere in my garage. I won't put it on my car, but if you are set on using that kit...I'll go look for it. Let me know.

If upgrading the fuel lines on a pre 88 car. I would strongly advice uppgrading the FPR to a later style aswell. Just so you could use AN fittings instead of hose clamp on the return line.

If you are in a hurry, use a dremel to cut the hose off the existing fittings, carefully so as not to scratch the barb underneath. Go to a local hose supply and get the correct diameter fuel rated hose. Then use hose clamps. AN fittings are better, but hose clamps will work safely. This is very inexpensive and if you then want you can buy another hose set that converts over to the AN style hose.
