I am always a bit cynical about any oil adatives .They are usually band aids to cover other problems.
Why would you need to stabilise the oil? What are you stabilising? Viscosity? Acidity?
If you have a leak and your oil is not too thin, then the best course of action is to fix the leak. Sorry for stating the obvious but if this product makes the seals swell it also will cause them to go soft and disintegrate. I promise it will all end in tears!!!

I have a small oil leak, but I don't know if you've seen other threads about oil leaks, but there are several testaments here that say that when they switched from Mobil 1 for example to Valvoline VR1 Dino oil, they noticed that the leaks reduced if not stopped completely, so there has to be some truth to an alternative fix than spending $2,500 in taking the oil pan off and changing the seals and gaskets...

Yes that is 100% true. However you will still need to replace the leaking seals at some point. Mobil 1 to a dino oil wil help, but it is a band-aid.

If you need to do the pan gasket and the leak is small VR1 may help it. The leak will be alittle smaller. It will not go away and over time it will get worse and you will need to replace the gasket anyway. Start saving your $$$$.

In my 944 Turbo S I have a leaking pan gasket. Over the past few years it has gone from noticeable, to mildly annoying, to will need to fix this really soon. That is still using VR1. The good news is the pan gasket & rod bearing change is low cost in terms of parts. I just need to find the time do it all.

Well said. There are no legitimate short cuts with these cars, vis a vis maintenance. Seriously, I've never owned a car where the adage "do it once and do it right" applied SOOO completely. You can fudge some things on other cars, but not 951's. YMMV.

Which oil are you currently using? If Mobil 1 don't use 5/40 it is too thin. You have to use 15/50. Are you sure it is the oil pan leaking? It wouldn't cost $2500 to fix an oil pan gasket. You could reseal the whole engine and do belts and a new water pump for that.

Road & Track's tech guy recommended it to prevent dry starts in seldom-driven cars. I use it in my boat's outboard engine for that exact reason. I am hoping that it provides some degree of rust & corrosion protection.

I currently have Amsoil 20W50 in it, the leak has not gotten worse and it's been like that since September of last year, it leaks over the cross member, so I'm thinking it's the rear main seal or the oil pan gasket, my mechanic says to just check the oil often...

If you are using Amsoil 20/50 going back to Dino oil will not have an effect. That Amsoil stuff is as good as you will get, bloody expensive over this side of the pond. I run my racing V12's on the stuff.
It is about $20 a litre in UK. Hence I would be changing any gasket if it was leaking to any extent.

It's bloody good and expensive, almost $10 a quart tax included, and I go through 1 quart a week for the $120 miles I drive to and from work, that's $40 a month, if I get Dino oil, it's $3 a quart and that's $12 a month instead and less leaks...

I use Amsoil in my 944 spec car. It is expensive, but I buy it 4 gallons at a time and change it every 3 race events. I have no desire to use it in my street car. Too expensive for that.
