Default Wastegate advice please

Before I buy a 38mm Tial with adapter flanges from Euro Parts for $335, does anyone know of a better deal, or have one for sale? (doesn't have to be a 38)

I know a lot of people here swear by the Tial unit but for me the ease of install was the deciding factor. I know of a couple of big hp guys using the Lindsey DP and it works very well.

If you're just wanting a stock-ish replacement, why not the LR Clubsport (I think that's what it's called) -- PCA stock legal.

im sure you're not going to race in PCA events... but if you did the club sport would be a must but then as you are looking for a TIAL obivously i doesnt matter. lindsey dual port has good credibility if im not mistaken.

Hmm, I hadn't really looked at the Lindsey's. I want something that will support a 27/6 and might as well get a DP since I have an EBC. Is the LR DP $100 better than a Tial 38mm? According to the Euro Parts website, their kit just bolts up also.

One of those two manufacturers has been doing it far longer and produced far more units...you decide which one.

As to bolt up, my 46mm with SFR's kit bolted up beautifully.

I dunno why you would go with the lindsey over the tial. Brand new technology vs. rebuilt old technology. If you get the kit from pauerman he has it all assembled and safetywired so that its literally a bolt up situation. At that point any bolt on advantage the lindsey piece had is irrelevant.

Well, technically any kit "just bolts up". The Tial requires an adapter plate to do so as it is not specifically made for the 951. The Lindsey is designed to be a direct replacement for stock and uses all the stock hardware including the torque tube bracket. When I installed mine it was rock solid.

sh944 is running a Vitesse MAF and turbo upgrade (stage 2 or 3 I can't remember at the moment) with the Lindsey DP. It is a wickedly fast car!

You're taking that beautiful engine apart again?! That's a museum piece, just make sure you have the k27 chrome plated. I'm just kidding, now the car is going to be in perfect condtion AND quick.

I've got a used Turbonetics Evo with less than 200 miles and a new Tial 38 kit that I'm not planning on using. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

my 38 bolted up VERY easily. slid right in, put bolts in, wiggled it and tightened right up.

The TiAL with SFR adapters bolts up perfectly. For me, its easier to install and remove as it doesn't have studs attached, nor does it have a bracket hanging off the side.

I've got a Lindsay DPW but if I were doing it again i'd go for the Tial. This is because it is a much better manufactured piece of kit - I don't think for a second it works better, ultimately a wastegate is a pretty simple piece of kit and one will work just as well as the other - it's like saying one fuse works better than any other fuse. Also I think there is a bit of a problem with the cast body of the Lindsay unit that is carried over from the stock wastegate (nothing to do with the refurb work Lindsay carries out by the way). When I removed my old wastegate there was a crack all the way along the valley of one of the cooling fins so I couldn't exchange my old wastegate and recover my core charge. Although I don't think this is a common problem it is not totally unheard of adn I know of a few other people in the UK who had the same cracks. If you do decide to go down the LDPW route i'd check your current wastegate is not cracked or it will cost you an extra $300 which makes it a very expensive option in comparison to the Tial. Tials seem pretty bulletproof as far as I can tell. In terms of operation I cannot fault my LDPW and am perfectly happy with it, but I don't have the confidence that a crack will not develop.

Thanks guys, good info. Don't worry Keith, it'll still look stock (almost.)
