I just noticed in the technical spec book that is says to use loctite 270 on the waterpump bolts. Sounds crazy to glue them in -- and mine seems fine after 30k miles without. Does anybody do this?

Yeah, I wondered that too -- doesn't say that -- but loctite 270 is for "permentently" installing fasteners... so that must be it.

Don't EVER do that!!!!
Those f-ing things break off in the block WITHOUT loctight!
I put anti-sieze and never have a problem - and they even come out when I want them to.

He knows what he is talking about! I usualy clean the threads out with a tap and use anti sieze.
If you want belt and braces use shockproof washers.

Clark also recommended not to use anything but anti-size on those bolts and studs, and to replace them with SS ones to avoid them from braking off.
