Default Shop in Raleigh/Durham area for Head Gasket Replacement

Hi,

I am looking for opinions from listers in North Carolina for a good, reputible shop anywhere within 1 hr of the Raleigh area to do my head gasket. I have had a variety of "estimates" to do the job, but would like some independant opinions of who people have used.

Thanks,

Dave

Agree with allergic2milk. Tolga at European Performance is quite helpful/knowledgeable.

European has done all of my work...which is quite a bit. They are really helpful and wont try to screw you over by replacing uneccesary things.

Thanks for the feedback. I have used European Performance in the past, and they have done good work, but i decided to take it to Speedwerks. They have a dyno, and can check out the car, A/F on their dyno with the wideband, and try to figure out what may have caused the failure.

Thanks,

Dave

Where is speedwerks? Let me know how your experience goes with them. European doesnt deal with aftermarket parts much and I'm looking for a shop to do some custom stuff.

Speedwerks is in Thomasville, about 15 min. west of Greensboro. I have a friend in town who uses them for his 914 race car prep, and I am going by his reccomendation. Ask for Dave Brown, he is who I talked with, and he was very understanding about my less than expansive budget. I also wanted a shop that could run the car on a dyno to check my state of tune, and A/F ratio to try to pin point the cause of the head gasket failure, and there was nothing like that available in Raleigh.
Will keep you informed as to the final outcome. I told them that I did not need the car back in a hurry, so it may be a few weeks before I have any feedback.
