Default Removing a lower balance seal...

... without pulling the timing belt, possible?

It leaks between the race and seal so I suspect there may be a grooved race causing this.

Any cool tools for squarely pressing in the seal?

I'll segment the rear cover before I disconnect the starter, drop it, and sweat timing to replace a plain seal on a balance shaft. I have all new parts except the nose piece Oring, which is a year old.

I replaced this seal about a year ago and it's still making a mess of the car and drive.

TIA

22 reads, this must be a real stupid question.

Old parts out, new parts in, set seal in the morning.

For those that make tools for our cars, I have a great idea...

you probably should be able to since you are pulling the cover and the b/s gear is on the shaft

As suspected...

Just enough to catch a nail on.
