My two big reliability checks before OOR with the new motor next year will be WGI and the Maxton Mile, once Ive got both of those under my belt without an issue I'll start considering OOR events.

I suppose the salt is corrosive to the cars, but this is the middle of the high desert. I doubt it gets more than 10" of rain per year. It basically is a huge sand pit, just not sand.

Anyway, google it and a bunch of stuff will come up (incase you didn't already know about it).
Ahh it’s not that simple. I’ve been to the falts back at the end of July, 2001 (~ 2 weeks after the races ended). The areas is flat but the salt is not dry. It’s slightly wet and it sticks to EVERYTING. I washed the company vehicle as soon as I got to the next town and at least once every week after that. Even after 9 months, when I lifted the car up. I could see saltt stuffed into the various corners of the undercarriage. AND I could see rust forming everywhere the salt accumulated (top of exhaust clamps, bolts and other steel parts of the car).
The wet salt is almost as damaging as a car getting flooded in water. I would consider lifting the car up in a hoist and washing everything with a power washer at lest a couple of times. The worst part is that when the salt dries it becomes almost as hard as concrete and it takes some serious effort to wash it all off.

I have a picture of the horizon 10 miles out into the flats and if you put a ruler from one edge to the other, you can see the curvature of the Earth!

Naw - can't. Buddy I am going with is very nervous driver/passenger (almost killed in a Muffstang) and he wants to drive.
