Oh, another question for you. When you painted the engine parts, what kind of prep/cleaning did you do before painting?

lee101315 - Where are you located? We could def. do the three of us up at 7 lakes one day.

Bill - This is the third 944 engine that I have done engine paint on. Prep is the most improtant part. Take your time and prep it correctly. I used gunk degreaser, then I sanded the parts down with a black and decker mouse till all grease was removed. If there is grease or oil on any parts, the paint wont stick and it will look like ****. I primered the parts too before painting them. It holds up well, good luck if you plan to do it.

Did you have to bake the paint or anything before you installed the parts? I'm thinking I'm going to paint my cam housing, but still haven't decided. I already polished the lettering on the top out pretty nicely with varying grades of sand paper, but am not sure if I like the bare metal look or not. Decisions, decisions... Is the lettering on your cam housing painted or polished?

Oh, looking at the pics again, is your fuel rail painted as well?

reno - sounds good, whats your name so i can stop calling you by your sn?

bill - Nope no baking at all. You just prep it, spray a few coats on and thats it. I polished the letters after painting the cam housing. This is easier then polishing, then masking them off, then painting. The fuel rail is painted, good eyes!
