What size is the rear hub nut?
On an '88 951?
My 32mm socket seems a bit loose, the 30mm doesn't fit. I don't have a 31mm to try, so I'm wondering if the nut is a 31 or 32mm? I don't want to strip 'em.

Yeah, I'm thinking a six sided socket might be a good idea. Has anyone used a metric size? I'll buy a 1 1/4" if I have to, but I have the metrics already.
So, when putting the nut back on, how is everyone getting it tightened to 340 ft/lbs? Apply 170 pounds of weight to the end of a 2' breaker bar? And should I apply anything to the threads when reinstalling?

Here is the magic trick...
Go buy a 32mm axle nut socket, take the center cap out of your wheel and drive to a truck shop.
Offer the first guy who can break the nut loose coffee, then put it back on by hand after it is loose.
Now drive home and remove the axle nut easily You are only out 1 cup of coffee (or 5-6 if you buy for the whole shop like I offered), and you are NOT out 1 sore back and broken breaker bars!
I went through 3 breaker bars and my relatively-hefty (600lb-ft) impact gun couldn't take it off. Took something a hell of a lot stronger. Once they are on there for some time they start to sieze on.
As for re-installation, yes, I just stood on the end of a 2' breaker bar
And yes, it is a 32mm, and you NEED a 6 point socket.
