Had a local shop make a 3 inch catback today with a magnaflow muffler. Im waiting for the new high flow cat later this week to arrive so in the meantime the guy cut the tubing for the wastegate so its dumped out and it really makes an insane sound (It will be routed back in once I go back). Anyone ever tried this?

I know there are a few people on here running wastegate dumps. Think they use them to freak out sleeping passengers in other cars on the highway. lol

Does anybody have video or sound clips of a dumped wastegate? before making a decision on my exhaust id like to hear this

I had WG dumping to open air right in front of rear front wheel on a bmw turbo ice-racer, but it's not very cool for long trips, and lots of tracks ban it here. so I'd say no.

It only sounds loud when passing something that reflects the sound back to you.

Also, this is only an issue when on full boost and if on full boost at WOT then who the hell cares???? LOL

The waste gate on my 930 dumps straight to atmosphere but of course it's all happening at the back end. Having a wastegate going off under your feet would be awesome!

I got my exhaust with a WG dump havnt had it running yet but if its too loud there are always resonators or small mufflers which could prob be put on to reduce the noise

Mine is setup this way. I would certainly say it's loud. Couldn't hear it in the video above, just alot of BOV noise. Maybe my hearing is going...

Do you really hear the turbo that much with the wastegate dumped? It was wining like a little highschool girl. I love it.

When it dumps, your hearing the exhaust basically coming straight off the headers. Are you talking about turbo spool up? Best way to hear that would be MAF.

I have mine dumping just like the pic someone posted, you dont really hear it until you WOT then its not really loud, but kinda it sounds really mean.....

I really don't know what the other's are talking about it being so loud. It just sounds like a nice loud exhaust at full throttle. nothing really different in the sound due to wg dump and mine is cut right past the wg so it comes out right at the passenger side.

I will try to get out today and do some standard drive bys, and a WOT run by the cam on the passenger side and post tonight.
