I was browsing items last night and came across this XJ8 for 2,900 bucks:

First off, DO NOT LOG IN AND DO NOT CLICK ON ANYTHING IN THAT LISTING

Somehow they have managed to circumvent stylesheets and links to make the standard ebay links point other places. This is a blatent attempt to steal your information and hijack your account.

If you come across an ad for something that sells for 15K with a 3K Buy It Now, just report it. I've reported this particular item three times so far with no response from ebay, I have called them and emailed them directly, and the listing is still there.

For intsance, if you click on the 'Contact Member' link which is supposed to be part of the ebay headers, it takes you to a geocities page. This person has put a great deal of work into this very elaborate scam, beware. In fact, if you're logged into ebay and looking around, check the Address line of your browser after clicking on anything, and check the status bar at the bottom before clicking, if it takes you outside of ebay's servers, don't do it, just report it. Some browsers are set to auto-login, if yours is, they will get you.

Bastards everywhere you turn. Be careful.

I gave up on ebay years ago.... craigslist is awesome and will continue to grow because of the open, person to person format.
