Ok without going too OT, I'm building a 3.0 8v and mulling over which turbo to go with. Any thoughts PM would be welcome.

Its hard to say about which works best as it depends on the goals i.e. mid range torque or max hp etc. However, I have seen a Greddy T88 34D and HKS T51R make over 500WHP at 12psi on those motors. The HKS T51R is based on the Garrett GT45 turbo. Thats my preference for big power

Jim, I have not built a 3.0 8V before, and a few guys here have, so I would only be "guessing" which turbo is a good fit, like I mentioned its all really up to you torque curve or HP goals. Personally I would go ball bearing Garrett every time, or the HKS equal of it. Even a GT3540 or GT40-42 would be fine with appropriate turbine AR. But it depends on you having addressed the intake manifold.

Here is a Greddy T88 34D on a supra, 4th gear with nos:

Imagine what this will do on a 3.1L 951

Those turbos like the HKS T51R KAI dont really start working to 25+psi
I would think the 3.1 would perfom a bit less than the 2JZ, the 2JZ head simply flows so much more air.

How long will it take SFR to build it? I got this far today, and at my current rate the motor should be complete in 2034...

Sean,
Come on. You know I won't spend money unwisely. But you have a valid point. I'm simply wanting the best for the money. This is not an investment, but a frivilous expenditure to have the best 951 out there. You helped me put in a clutch that will handle whatever I put in this car.
Sean, as a recent engineering grad, and you were me, what would you do? This is what I am asking, my friend.
What would the best minds with our cars do?
Stock 3.0 alum block, or sleeved? I'm really looking for what Sean would do without price being the issue.
I'll listen to your logic and take this into consideration. I'm actually sitting on the ledge like Humpty Dumpty. I'm asking for logical opinions not silly banter. What is the right way to go if you had unlimited resources to build your engine.
I'm asking for your opinion.
George

unlimited resources - no doubt about it....
Call John Milledge or Scott Gomes and give them my cc number, and say " call me when your finished."

So Ski does that mean I can call those guys and give them your cc number? That's mighty nice of you old boy. I may need to use it the way I'm going...

but I fall in the LIMITED category. let me change that to "give them your cc number and tell them to call you when they're finished". Milledge is coming to Hallett on Saturday to help tune an engine that he built so I'll get to see some of his work firsthand and finally meet him after doing some business with him for a few years.
