Default morso oil accumulator

Hi, who here is running it? I'm looking for ideas and possible places to place the 3qt unit. and if not, a place to put the 1 1/2 qt

as for the rest I figure on replacing the oil cooler and all fittings/lines to an10, and putting the moroso one way with 1/2npt to an10 before the oil cooler.

pics/ideas are welcome!

I am not expert but it seems most go for the oil pan baffle.

Also I understand the #2 oiling problem is not just a bad pickup thing, but a problem with the harmonics in the flow of the oil galley feeding the crank.

mm cross drilling is a suggested fix for #2 afaik, but I don't wanna do that until autumn when I build a new engine.

I know the moroso accumulator is very popular with dragracers and other highspeed trackracers here, but only know of one mounted in a 928 so far of porsches.

I run highspeed high G turns and I just don't wanna blow up juuuust yet, oil cooling is also getting improved and I will either run TWS motorsport or motul 300V depending on what I can get. also considering trying LE out.

here are the measurments
Accumulator Length (in): 20.13
Accumulator Diameter (in): 4.25

removing the coal?thingy in the fender, and putting this here might work, but it would be good to be able to visually inspect it. also thought about in between intercooler pipes in front fender top, but think its to tight.

Friend of mine has an Accusump mounted in the spare tire well in his 951 race car.

interesting, do you know if the very long plumbing will have any effect? I would have to calculate the hose size and add oil accordingly.

have you got pictures by any chance?

I've seen one at the track mounted in the passenger seat opening. Not sure I would go that route, but that's what he did.

I've also considerd under windshield wipers, if I can fit it, but I think the blowers and such will get in the way. inside front bumper is possible, but very exposed.

I know this is a bit more expensive but have you thought of a complete cure such as a dry sump system? This is the one I'm planning on getting in the near future, it can be run with all accessories as well, if you can believe that....

And I've seen most of the accusumps mounted in the fender as the charcoal canister was.

thanks 9fitt1, yes considered drysump, but I'm selling the engine and building a new during winter, this is a moderate 400-450 build so I can race this summer and get used to the car.

My Accusump is placed in the Right rear passenger seat area. This is handy, because I can see the pressure guage on it without having to get out of the car. The oil line was threaded through to the oil filter plate without drilling a single hole in the car. Small brackets were fabbed to mount the 2 quart unit to the lap belt mounting points. Seems to work well and the pressure stays up better than before. I've had it 4-5 years now. Good investment and it'll still work for your next engine. My car is a dedicated track car.

I mounted mine at the rear of the LH fender behind the wheel. If you car doesn't have ABS you could also mount it on the RHS since this is where the ABS stuff is. My car doesn't have the charcoal canister (UK spec). I mounted the gauge remotely at the rear of the engine bay on the RH side.

I've also ordered a windage tray that incorporates crank scrapers.

ahh thanks both turbocup87 and genqco for the ideas, remote mount of pressure display is indeed smart, and since my car is a 86 euro, and I have no abs.

since I'm changeing all oil hoses, + cooler etc I figured on a T joint. and also putting the one way valve moroso makes in, do you run this as well? I haven't looked at drilling and tapping the filter plate, but I will look again.

thanks guys

I just got a sandwich adapter with an extra port that screws in between the oil filter housing and oil filter. I also got the billet filter which has replacement cartridges that can be changed just by screwing the top off. They are high flow and filter down to 8 micron with no bypass. I got these at the same time as the accusump from Canton racing. I also got a fuel filter that filters doen to 1 micron (the 8 micron version flows 90 gallons per minute!)
