I'm looking for the lightest published curb weight for the 951? Any model, any year. From what I've seen the 89 S seems to be the lightest I've found for a US car at 2900 and change. I've noticed the ROW can come in as low as 2768. Any help would be appreciated.

 

The lightest stock car will always be the 86's.

Start trimming the fat - interior/power stuff/window washers/sound deadening/etc.

 

Some racing classes limit the cars minimum weight to the lightest weight of any year of a production model. The speedvision GT series was that way.

 

Thanks but I know we can lighten the cars. I'm asking for help finding "published" weights. Specifically I'm looking for the lightest of those. So far, the lightest I've found is actually the 89S.

You nailed it RKD. I need it for a race series that references published curb weights.

 

My '86 951 weighed in at 2918# with a 1/2 tank of gas and removed spare, tool kit, and rear seat upper. I believe the published weight was ~2980# or so, which sounds about right.

 

Where did you see 2900# for a 89 951?

Far as I know it is 2998...
My 89 951 bone stock weighed in at ~3150 IIRC with ~1/2 tank....it was a few years back (hence the ~).

 

Thanks Andrial, I think you're right. 2998 sounds like what I saw. Couldn't remember the exact number (that's why I said 2900 and change) but I remember it was less than 3K.

 

The owner's manual for '89 says 2998 lbs.

 

My 89 weighs in right at 3150 as well. Hummmmmmmm the things that make ya go hummmmm.

Kinda wishful thinking on my part that somehow I could have found something closer to the 2768lbs the ROW had in 85

I have a book on the 924/944/968 series stating the ROW weight for an 86 951 is 2680lbs or so? I half believe it since the car is so easy to push around.

 

Do you have this in hand?
