If im not mistaken, Ski has a HSS ball joint kit on the track car, which basically is the same (if not better) than the cup ball joints.

Just installed a rebuilt control arm wiht super deluxe balljoints from Rennbay and couldnt be happier! The new arm performed flawlessly at my first track day this past weekend.

One thing though, my car is lowered with weltmeister 250lb springs the PO installed and I have heard that this will cause my balljoints to fail? Is there truth to this?

before you order your kit yau should check if the ball joint housing is ok.I rebuilt my left a arm three times and balljoint bushings only lasted one week each time.

I'm going to the shop today to ask my mechanic to check everything and to see if the kit will do the trick. I'm probably going to try one of the Rennbay ball joint kits as recommended above. Hopefully all goes well!

I've tried the REnnbay kits (the nylon ones), 944online.com and now the SSI brass kit. I only got a few months out of the nylon kit before it got sloppy with just a street car. Ian's 944online arm came with a FEBI balljoint which lasted 13 months -just out of the warranty period ( thanks for standing by your $180 control arm Ian ). The problem with these arms is that the FEBIs are not rebuildable. Now the SSI kit... as Ski recommended ..in my view it is the right way to go. If you're interested I only used one replacement brass balljoint out of the kit, so I'd sell the other side for half mycost. The SSI kit was $130 US- check out their website which comes with great instructions. No disrespect meant to Tim at Rennbay-

So do I understand this correctly, the 944 online arms cannot be rebuilt with the SSI kit? I was thinking of going this route, do you know why it wont work?

it looks like ssi's kit doesn't come with the zerk fittings to inject grease. can anyone verify?

From what i read in the instructions you upose to load it up with grease before you put the rubber boot. I guess you can always take off the boot and regrease.

that's to grease the top. how do you grease the bottom? the rennbay kit has zerk fittings with screw caps on the bottom to allow grease injection.

The SSI ball joint kit is a great set up, was my first DIY three years ago, no issues since. I actually bought both the SSI kit and the deluxe Rennbay kit. I wanted to do a complete rebuild and the Rennbay kit comes with replacement lower plates, springs, retaining springs and seals. Cost a little extra but this allowed me to replace everthing in the ball joint. Come to think of it i still have the plastic bushings and rubber boots from the Rennbay kit laying around if anyone is interested.

The SSI kit does not come with a zerk fitting and from what i recall if you choose to put one in the best location is to drill through the top of the a-arm on inside corner between the cup and the arm. I was uncomfortable drilling through the arms so i did not use zerk fittings, simply pack the ball joint and boot with a good molly grease and install. I check the ball joint throughout the year and if it ever feels loose i would rebuild them again and repack with grease, until those Charlie Arms get ordered of course
