I like the 3" downpipe/4" back idea that was used by Walker on the Canadian cup cars. It's enough exhaust overkill to not have to worry about flow restriction post-turbine, maximizing effective exhaust backpressure loss, while still actually retaining an exhaust system.
5" is just retarded if they aren't putting power down into the 4-figure range. At that point, why not just angle a pipe down from the turbine housing with some internal perforations, have it end at the firewall, and call that an exhaust system? Hell... you couldn't say there would be any effective backpressure there!

Not sure if this was said or not. But isn't the Lindsey 4inch exhaust an acutal 3 inch at the WG tie in point? Then it expands into a 4inch later in the exhaust. So going to a 5 just sounds plain overkill. Why not make it larger (4inch) up higher where the WG tie in goes?

Exactly, the problem is the wastegate tie in. Addiontally those exhaust pulses aren't in sync with the regular exhaust flow so there is some major disturbance created there.
If you need to expand the diam. anywhere it's at that point.
On the exhaust I will be building soon I'll have a 3-4" transition where the wg ties in.

I agree, the larger the exhaust at the WG tie-in, the better (up to the point where it no longer is a restriction).

Ok, I just drove a car with the Lindsey 4" exhaust - without muffler and the wastegate vents to atmosphere - holy ****.
That's about all there is to say........it's loud, in your face, exciting, can hear the turbo spooling up/down. Basically it makes my sticker peck out..........

I've gone without muffler on the track, not sure I would want that in town. It brings up images of a police officer bending you over the hood. Not my cup of tea really. Sure is nice hearing it at the track though..when going past those duck tailed 911's, doing 2nd gear speeds down the straights but making more noise than Sharky when his sticker is peckin behind that large pea shooter in his avatar.
Some of you that have driven with the wastegate dumped, give us a review.
