Default Big Day!

Looks like tomorrow is going to be the big day - if all goes well, the engine finally goes into the car! Lots of little things to follow after that, but it will definitely be a milestone and morale booster.

That's awesome Al! What exactly did you do to the engine? Any new mods?

Thanks! The engine is a 3.0 L I've been putting together the last 3 years during my ever decreasing spare time. The specs are: S2 block and crankshaft; Mahle 3.0 turbo pistons with Swain coated crowns; Cunningham rods; 2.7L head fitted with stock intake valves, 951 exhaust valves, JME valve springs, polished ports, and Swain coated chambers and exhaust ports; JME camshaft; ARP head studs; Cometic MLS head gasket; stock headers, cross-over, and down pipe; match-ported stock intake; Fidanza flywheel; 6 puck copper/ceramic clutch disk with solid hub; KEP S2 pressure plate; Vitesse S5 turbo and associated fuel and management goodies, and copious amounts of blood, sweat, tears, and $$$ !

We're all rooting for you Alex. Good luck!

I'm still nursing mine along... maybe this will help jumpstart mine.

I haven't followed your build posts Alex, but that first start is pretty sweet!

Check the floor immediately for a mis aligned OPV...

We used the tool, and damnit, it still peed' everywhere.

Rob - Hope to fire it up sometime this month. Job, wife, kids, and a house has a way of delaying DYI projects. And, yes I'll be running a Vitesse MAF.

Tom - C'mon man you're next!

That's great Al, can't wait to hear how it goes with the car. As you get closer to putting it all together, maybe you can take some nice pics for us? I can't wait to see this and hear it roar!

I know -- just a matter of finding more free time really -- our parts lists are remarkably similar except for your JME parts, and I have not yet decided on the clutch yet. Virtually same block, pistons, head, valves (though Gomes warmed up my ports a bit), turbo, MAF, etc. Can't wait to see how your motor performs...

Yeah Tom, yours has been a pretty long too come to think of it? I guess Alex's will be done first though. I thought you guys similar build-outs too. I can't wait to see both Alex's and yours. Vrrrrmmm!

The tensioners are at the bottom of the p/s - balance shaft bracket.
