I wish they sold 100 octane at the pumps here
Keithr726,

In your neighborhood you can purchase 100 and 110 fuel at Sears Point Raceway. Or is it called Infinion now?

But is it a situation of 6 of one half dozen on the other??? i.e. you have higher octane but you need to add alot more fuel so no benifits from the higher octane.

Uhh what? Of course you get benefits from the higher octane.

Hmm. A little extreme on the negativity about Ethanol here. It's not that bad!

Methanol is more a cause of the negative effects that have been stated. Ethanol will do the same, but after so many years...... Only two problems. It will "clean" out your system and clog it up. Change the Filter after a week or less. Second problem is tune. It needs more fuel. Injectors do NOT need to be changed. raise the pressure and increase the duty cycle. (Assuming you haven't already done this for your current set up) Add some timing. How much depends on head design.

But, your fuel system is not going to fall apart.

E-85 is around 105 Octane. Will give you around 5% more power in NA trim. Turbo will stand to gain way more. JUST by adding this fuel and tuning for it.

Major advantage. COST. It's only 1.70 Per gallon here in Houston. Compare that to $6 for a 104octane Race fuel. Cost for a different tune pays for itself in 10 fill ups!!!!

I'm buying a vitesse chip and MAF next month. And asking him to add a E-85 map. My specs with his input. I'm not worried though, the savings in fuel cost will pay for it...... ; )

There is some interesting reading in this link. Obviously it's biased towards the brand Elf but lot's of good info if you have a look around.
