I currently have Swepco in my non-lsd turbo trans, it's VERY notchy when cold and my diff seems to be whining on deceleration in 2nd/3rd gear. Any trans fluid going to help this out or am I looking at a $$$ trans replacment???

Hobojoe, i used Swepco as well under the recommendation of a local porsche racing outfit to try and correct "notchy" shifting too. it didn't help. i was wondering the same thing reading this post. could Amasoil or Redline improve this situation or could it be clutch/diff problem. anybody have similar notchy feeling shifts and change to one of these other brands and found it diminished or went away? Thanks as always

I used Redline Heavy shockproof in my LSD. Got a TON of vibration from the unit. Changed it with Swepco 201 (blue in color) and in the last couple hundred miles haven't gotten a single bit of vibration. We will see....hopefully that was the fix.

Either way, I have had great luck with Swepco and will continue using it.

I switched to swepco during a clutch change because that's what was recommended. However, someone later told me that it was the best stuff for an LSD trans, which I do not have.

If you don't have a clutch type limited slip you'll want to use a gear lube without a friction modified. Redline 75W90NS doesn't have friction modifier whereas Redline 75W90 and Swepco 201 will.

I use and sell Motul brake fluid and also their Synthetic gear oil for my customers with a G50 box in their 911's. I am glad to hear it works well in the 951 as well.

For the 911's with a 915, I use and recommend swepco, although I don't promise the difference some folks in the 911 world do. But is a good fluid for the 915.

I used the redline in my 951 for a couple of reasons... I have a wholesale account with them, I searched on rennlist and it seemed to be a recommended fluid and I never thought of trying the Motul for some reason. But I will next time around!

I've used both Castrol and Mobil One in my 951 box with LSD and S2 r&p and am fine with either. I also tried Royal Purple but wasn't nearly as happy with how the tranny felt. YMMV.

Jason, hope your still watching this thread. i used the Swepco 201 in my 86 951 non-LSD tranny, are you saying i should use 75w90ns or equivalant, one without friction modifier?

I beleive 60k is recommended, but not widely followed.
