Default What choice in 'Modern' wheels?

Looking through various Porsche magazines from around the globe and there is so much more stuff available for 911's , Boxters, and Caymens. When you see some of the really nice cutting edge type of wheels they don't seem to fit our cars. Of course there are plenty of more 'Classic' types available but what else is out there for our cars?

Factory or Fikse, BBS, CCW.

HRE and Kinesis (new, their old stuff is great) are crap.

if you browse thru the wheelenhancement website, there are several 944 customer cars with various wheels installed shown.

I like those 18" twists that xboost just put on. I also like BBS but they are a real pain to clean.

The 951 sits on the cusp between modern and old school. (Sorta like David Bowie during his "Space Mullet" phase.) Folks who upgrade generally go one direction or the other with their cosmetic mods...linking forward to 993/996 looks with 18" twists and swapping to 968 handles, mirrors and wings...or backdating to a Fuchs or Fikse (depending on offsets and brakes) early 80's IMSA look.

Equally interesting, IMO, just depends on which end of the gene pool you prefer to splash in.

Here are some examples. Not all are super modern but a bit different. I also agree that the BBS or clones are difficult to clean especially if you use pads that throw a lot of dust.

There are obviously some old or current wheels on some of these sites, but there are some that I've yet to see on some of our cars. With the Fikse, BBS,Simmons etc they do tend to be more classic in style. I am thinking more for my road wheels too. For my race I will probably going for the ones in the bottom right hand side of this link:

I would think that all stock 996 wheels would fit. Aswell as any replacement wheel for a 996 (same size/offset). Here are some wheels i jsut put on my car. I know they are crapy pics (dirty car/night) but you get the picture.

yeah, bilstein coils in front and new struts (bilstein) in back. THey are stock 996 carrera wheels. 18x10 (285) and 18x8 (245) in front. No rubbing at all.

that 968 turbo RS belongs to Jason at Paragon Products...no wonder they seem to know what they are talking about when you order parts.

The late 944 has a great advantage of being able to wear many different factory sized wheels. Personally I would talk to Wheel Enhancements. He actually delivered a wheel to me at a tire shop in California when I broke one of my twists. Delivery was free!!!!

Yes those pic's are really nice wheels but are more in the classic style and while they're a proven product, they're not what I mean. More like some of the wheels in the links posted but I don't think many of them fit our cars. Just by the way while I don't like many of the Porsche wheels, I think that some of the ones offered with the Cayman look good and they're 5 stud pattern but I don't think they fit either. Why is that exactly? Studs closer together, no room for the axle?
PS there was a car posted some months ago with 19's on it. Not everyone liked it, but does anyone remember the car / link / post ?
