Most boost gauges (not all) will measure vacuum. The ?????? from 2bridges is because his decoder ring, like mine must be broken. can you restate the question? and well offer up an answer....

If it is connected to the intake manifold and the gauge is designed to display vacuum then either your gauge is not working or it is not hooked up properly.

Are you saying that the lowest reading on your gauge is zero or that your gauge will not function in the vacuum readings?

If zero is the lowest digit, you have a boost gauge only.

The mods on the car and the health of your engine will effect the amount of vacuum you are pulling at a given RPM, as well as other things like leaks. If you don't see any vacuum reading I would suspect a broken gauge if it is indicating boost and the car is idling normally and running ok.

I'm wanting to get a VDO boost gauge for my car. Is there any benefit to having vac on the gauge?

For early detection of vac leaks.
Thanks. I have a vac tester, but I see now how that would be beneficial.
