Default Gas Milage

At what speed is there a significant drop in gas milage. I was curious if I keep it in vaccum and out of boost at crusing speeds on the interstate, if approx 95-100mph is a big difference on gas milage then say 70.

thanks
Steve

If you're going 90-100, do you really care about gas mileage? The biggest expense will be the ticket if you get caught.

Well, on the track I get about 1/3 of the milage I get on the street... So you'd be somewhere in between.

I've noticed that I get about 24 mpg highway regardless of cruising 75 or 95. Don't know about speeds higher than that. Remember, though you are encountering more resistance at 95 mph, engine efficiency is also increasing.

I've played around with my speed for a couple tanks and found the same thing, no real diff between 60 and ~80 for the highway bits (prob 65-70%) on a tanks worth of driving. I usually get 23-24 mpg.

My mileage has dropped to ~21 now, but I just installed a MAF and think I've been playing with my turbo too much...but that's another story.

I appriciate the response, It is nice to have a car that cruises sooo nice. I just switched my mass air meter trying to chace down a cold start problem, in resarching the meter I noticed people talking about gas milage that was really awful although the car seemed to run fine. Since I swaped, my cold start is much improved, my gas milage seems better, and The car actually seems more responsive. I plan next year to go to a standalone system, looking at the DTA S-60, and get rid of these old parts and be better able to monitor the engine.
