Also Bill (22psi) and specialtool (28+psi) any insight???
I have an EBC that allows me to switch between 2 boost settings. One set at 18 psi and one set at 22 psi. I only use the 22 psi setting if I have 100 octane race fuel from a Union 76 station near-by, or add toluene. My car is not a daily driver, so I pretty much keep the tank full with the race fuel. Also Danno came up to my house and he programed a custom chip for 22 psi, while in my car using my zetronix data logger.

i found that with the vitesse stage 3 i have i would start to get pinging at 1.8 bar, which is 26psi. that was on pump fuel. but for everyday i ran the car at 22psi.

Since i am keeping the fuchs, the max i can go for is 245/40 in the rear, hence anything over 330whp would probably just make my tires spin in all three gears, and the weather here is dry, you cannot get as dry as here as anywhere else

I believe tires make a difference, what where you running?
Yeah - don't get me wrong, the car is stupidly fast, its just that with the big turbo the tyres are usually well and truly hooked up by the time the boost hits (about 3.2 - 3.4k in 4th, higher in lower gears). I'm running 255/40/17s on the back, and have a M030 setup in very good condition, so perhaps that explains the extra traction.

JET951, your everyday PSI figure seems to go up by 2 PSI every time you quote it! I'm staying at ~18 for my "HI" setting until I at least get a wideband (doing voltage conversions with the narrowband sucks); I'm still on the original head gasket (AFAIK) too which is a bit of a worry.

yeah i know. i just keep turning it up. i knew the engine was coming out so for some mods so i wanted to give it some boost for a while. i did a HG on my car 3 months ago and when i pulled the head off last week i noticed that number 4 cyl down the bottom was soon to fail. the engine will be a 2.7
