Default I need Shims for wastegate ?

I am looking for the shims for the wastegate, can these be made from the local hardeware store, or does anyone want to sell me some and how many do you use to shim the wastegate? Thanks Davepnola 504-234-4458

You can use washers in place of shims. From memory a 3 washer thickness was on the money for 15psi.

The factory gauge is just eye-candy. Get a real boost gauge.

Dave,

Some people shim the wg, some people replace the spring, some people replace the wg (generally tial 35mm is a popular choice), some use a boost enhancer or other boost controller, and some use both the boost controller and a modified or replaced wg.

I have a LBE and my car holds boost and it comes on strong.

Personally, i would try the LBE before shimming the wg unless you are seriously strapped for cash and have time. The boost enhancer goes on in maybe 10-15 minutes and cost $90, while removing the wg to shim it takes way longer and cost less than a dollar for parts. The boost enhancer can be adjusted, the shims cannot.

Sincerely,
David NOLA

I will use the boost controller bypass the cycle valve, first, install the test pipe 2nd ? And then see what i will gain ..... I have a black **** boost control and real boost gauge I will install. The car is stock 86 951 with a set Weltsmier chips . Just trying to get moddest gains for little dinero!

I also have 4 cars now ? the 86 is the driver , the 968 6 speed is the project turbo, I have Lukes old 86 951 that has about 6-7k in mods ( this is the merge car for the 968) and I just bought Mortys 87 951 car from Jackson Miss that needs frame pulled and some maintenance Black ABS car will repair and sell the 86 . So I have some parts if anyone needs...?? I guess I got caught in the fever again .....
